How to install the New Shorter Oxford English Dictionary to your hard drive

From Oxford University Press:

These are instructions for configuring the New Shorter Oxford English Dictionary (NSOED) to run without the CD in the drive

To achieve this, the datafile will need to be copied to the hard disk and the initialization file will need to be ammended to point the program to the new location of the datafile. Use the steps below as a guide.

1. Copy the file D:\DATA\NEWSOEDS.AND to a folder on your hard disk, e.g. C:\NSOED.

2. Using Notepad, open the file C:\WINDOWS\NEWSOED.INI

3. Look for a line starting DATAFILE=.

4. Replace that line with DATAFILE=C:\NSOED\NEWSOEDS.AND (using the example given in step #1.)
